Wine Relief for Comic Relief

Wine Relief logoThe major chains and supermarkets are again supporting the money raising efforts of Wine Relief for this years Comic Relief event. Red Nose Day itself is on 16th March.

Of the major chains Sainsbury’s, the Co-op, Marks & Spencer, Threshers, Tesco, Waitrose, Somerfield, Majestic and Morrison’s have all agreed to donate 10 per cent of the value of the wines that they are promoting to the cause. Oddbins and Asda have declined to participate this year. There is also a Wine Relief case of wine available from Virgin Wines (£109.88).

Now the cause is undeniably a good one but I have this cynical feeling that many wine producers view Wine Relief as just another marketing promotion, for there are plenty of the big brands on offer. But hunt around for the others and feel good for the charity contribution at the same time.
