I don’t really see how Bulgaria, Canada and Greece can be described as ‘unusual’ sources for wines – they have long been a feature on the UK’s shelves; although finding Bulgarian wine is difficult compared to it’s ubiquitousness a few years ago.
But three unusual countries are featured in last months Observer Food Monthly are worth searching for. China has over 100 indigenous grape varieties, we are bound to see more and more Chinese wine in the future. I am not so sure about India or Thailand mind.

Noble Dragon Shandong White, 2005, China £6.99 Bibendum “An intriguing, spicily aromatic blend of lightly oaked Chardonnay with Riesling and Muscat from the Changyu Pioneer Winery in Shandon Province”
