Manchester’s Spanish specialist Evuna is holding a tasting of the wines of the Castile y Leon region on 1 April 2009. The region includes wines from the upper reaches of the Douro river – Ribera del Duero, which I have always thought deserve to be at least as good as many Riojas, but it less well-known.

We are pleased to be launching Bodegas Vizar www.bodegasvizar.es, a modern vineyard located on the Duero River. This winery successfully blends Merlot and Syrah with the local varieties. Vizars winemaker will be on hand to help us taste these exceptional wines.
In addition to help tempt our taste buds into the summer months we have sourced a beautiful new 2007 Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo from Bodegas Maria Jesus in Rueda. (Just awarded 90 points by Robert Parker
