I don’t buy Wine and Spirit magazine that often, in fact the latest issue was picked up free from a trade tasting last week. Content-wise it’s certainly improved since the last time I looked.
One article though made me raise an eyebrow. On page 31 is an interview with Adrian Chiles, the BBC TV and Radio presenter. He seems to be a bit of a wine lover but mentions that
The language on wine bottles is so difficult and that of tasting notes is lunacy. Whoever says New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc tastes of gooseberries is crazy, when did they last taste a gooseberry? I haven’t for about 20 years”
New Zealand Sauvignon IS goosberries to me! And I made a gooseberry compote when they were last in season to boot!
Sauvignon Blanc is this months Great Grape Day theme on WineSediments today.
