Health related warnings will be introduced on all alcohol by the end of 2008 under a voluntary agreement between ministers and industry.
The new labels will include phrases along the lines of “know your limits” or “drink responsibly” and include details of the amount of alcohol units each drink contains. While such unit information is often printed on supermarket own-label lines the plan is to have all drinks to carry specific messages for the first time. In addition the new labels will warn that drinking alcohol should be avoided if pregnant or trying to conceive.
The Drink Aware website will also be included.
