Steep Hill Wines is a family run independent wine merchants and shipper. We specialise in wines from Chablis and Burgundy, but hold an extensive stock of wines from around the world. Good Chablis is worth seeking out – although cheap Chablis can be quite as bland as the most mediocre Chardonnay – their tasting note forBillaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru les Preuses sums up what a good Chablis should be: Rich gold with green reflection, brilliant and clear. Perfectly good balance between mellowness and acidity; this is a dense, slender wine with elegant classy structure and a long finish. Lemony with pink grapefruit. The richness on the nose is first expressed as honey, soon giving way to notes of green and mineral. Diverse and complex aromas with ripeness of fruit intermingling honey with toast, lemon with vanilla.
